Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask about hosting, tickets and getting in on the day.
Getting started
What is TavernCentral?
A place to run events from start to finish. You publish an event page, share its link and QR code, take registrations or sell tickets, email your guests and check them in at the door.
Guests can also browse what is happening near them and register in a few taps.
Is it really free?
Yes. The Free plan has no limit on events or guests and never expires. Free tickets cost nothing, and paid tickets carry a small fee on each sale.
Premium (₦15,000 a month, or less if you pay quarterly or yearly) adds exhibitors, vendors and volunteers, badges and wristbands, custom ticket designs, "I will be attending" pictures, the AI campaign manager, priority support and pages without adverts.
Compare plansDo I need to be an organisation to sign up?
No. When you sign up, choose "I'm an individual" or "I'm an organisation". Individuals only need a name, email and password.
An individual can host as themselves or for an organisation they run events for, such as a club or church. Guests then see that organisation as the host. You can change to an organisation account later in Settings.
How long does it take to create an event?
A few minutes. You need a name, a date and time, a short description and a venue or online link. A cover image is optional. Your event goes live once you publish it.
Create an eventCan I run online events?
Yes. Add your Zoom, Google Meet or other link when you create the event. Only people who have registered see it, in their confirmation email and ticket.
Tickets and payments
How much does it cost to sell tickets?
5% + ₦100 per paid ticket, on every plan (no ₦100 on tickets under ₦1,000). Free tickets carry no fee. Card processing is added for the buyer.
For each event you choose who pays our fee. On a ₦5,000 ticket, if the buyer pays it they pay ₦5,533 and you receive ₦5,000. If you absorb it, they pay ₦5,178 and you receive ₦4,650.
See pricingWhen do I get my money?
Each payment is split as it happens: your share goes to your bank account through our secure payment gateway. By default you are paid the next business day after each sale, or you can choose weekly or monthly.
Add your bank account in Settings, under Payouts, before you sell paid tickets.
Can I sell different kinds of tickets?
Yes. An event can have up to 10 ticket types, such as Regular and VIP, each with its own price and number available. Free and paid types can sit side by side.
Can I approve guests before they get a ticket?
Yes, on any plan. Tick "Guests need my approval" when you create or edit the event. Guests send a request, and you approve or decline each one. For a paid event, approved guests get a link to pay and their tickets are held for 48 hours.
Who handles refunds?
The organiser sells the tickets, so refunds are decided and paid by the organiser. Guests can reply to their ticket email to reach them.
For guests
Do I need an account to register or buy a ticket?

How does check-in work?
Open the event's Check-in page on any phone or laptop and scan the QR code on each guest's ticket, on screen or printed. You can also find a guest by name. The page shows how many people have arrived.
If the camera won't open, allow camera access in your browser and reload the page.
Can I print name badges or wristbands?
Yes, on Premium. Design a badge in the badge designer and print one for every guest. Wristbands are made for wristband printers such as the Zebra ZD510-HC, and show the guest's name, ticket type and a QR code for check-in.
Account and security
How do I keep my account safe?
Turn on two-step sign-in in Settings, under Security. You will need a code from an authenticator app each time you sign in. We will never ask for your password or codes.
What happens if I cancel Premium?
Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then moves to Free. Nothing is deleted: your events, guests and ticket sales stay.
